If you bought a number from Telnyx and want to send SMS from n8n, you need to connect your Telnyx account to n8n. While Telnyx now has an n8n community node for Voice AI, SMS workflows are still commonly handled through Telnyx’s Messaging API.
The advantage of this setup is flexibility.
Once Telnyx is connected, the same n8n instance can handle outbound SMS, inbound message webhooks, CRM updates, logging, and AI enrichment in one workflow.
For example, an inbound SMS to your Telnyx number can trigger an n8n webhook, enrich the conversation context, generate a reply, and automatically send the response back through Telnyx.
However, there is no straightforward way to easily interact with a Telnyx number in n8n.
